And sometimes calls are even humorous. “About two months ago I came around a bend in a road (I won’t say where) and there was a cow in the road. I managed to avoid hitting the cow and go to the shoulder but the cow charged the car and ran right into it and then ran off. I searched for the cow but couldn’t find it. But the owner did pay for the $2,500 in damage to the car.”
Dodson said he thought it was amusing but also illustrated that even though you try to help people (or even cows) you can’t always help those who don’t want to be helped. That poses somewhat of a dilemma for the deputy.
“I think it’s all in how you approach people,” he said. “If you go in with an attitude you can expect an attitude back. Fve never really had any trouble.”
