Elementary teacher Pam Roszak and high school teacher Reed Gillespie presented an inservice training program on the new social studies curriculum for each school. The curricula needed to be tied to the state’s new standards of learning objectives, and be “teacher friendly,” explained Roszak, so that even the newest teachers could use the materials effectively.
Teachers from each grade level participated on the team project. “We linked years and classes together because the scope and sequence is so important,” Roszak said. Johnson commended the teacher teams for their hard work and outstanding performance.
Roszak recommended that the materials be reviewed every two to three years to ensure that they are up-to-date and meeting the students’ needs. Board member Ron Makela suggested designing a feedback form for teachers to use to provide com
