County Administrator John McCarthy and retired Piedmont Environmental Council president Bob Dennis spoke about the Virginia Coalition of High Growth Communities. It is a coalition comprised of 17 counties and three cities in the state that have united to combat the lobbying efforts of the Virginia Association of Homebuilders and other groups. House Bill 1362 will be presented in the next session of the General Assembly, and, if passed, would restrict Fauquier County from having subdivision restrictions. “It plainly could affect everybody in the state,” said McCarthy.

• A trip to Edgewater, Md, to study another wastewater facility was planned although no date yet has been set. l.
Donald Lane and Kent Ware of the Virginia Rural Water Association will hold a question and answer discussion at the town hall on at 7:30 p.m.' on Dec. 1 to review individual sewer and wastewater costs.
• A Town Planning Commission work session will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 23. at the town hall to discuss results of the Herd report.
• The town needs t<j upgrade the town water reser* voir by adding a second possi* bly on property owned bjjr Sidney Berry. The council later went into executive ses* sion to discuss the matter. f
• The discussed changes td the budget included increase^
in the meal and lodging revf enue from $143,500 to $156,000 and decreases in electricity, printing and paper, and insurance. In executive sessioif . the council discussed overtime and personnel matters.
• In new business a resolution recognizing Pete* Skowronski for his time served | as a member of the council was unanimously passed.
• The mayor proposed writ* ing a letter to Del. Katzen sup* porting the council's opposition to House Bill 1090, which would require special elections for vacancies on elected boardd if not spelled out in local char* ters. In a letter Katzen stated that the bill would usurp thd power of local governing bodies^
• Training for two pyrotech* nists at $500 was discussed and budgeted for next year.
• The Christmas party fo£ the town residents and busi* ness people was scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 6 beginning with the lighting of the town Christmas Tree at the court* house. A potluck dinner will follow at the town hall.
• A retaining wall built b]f the town trustees was one foot over ARB requirements, said Willis. If the ARB would approve the wall, the council agreed to write a letter thank* ing them.
• The mayor agreed to talk to the sheriff about ways td slow traffic on Main Street. \
