They came to see the scenes of which their late mother did illustrate. So over log, rock and fallen tree, through thicket and briars and vine, Higher, further, still onward we climbed. And coming eventually to where two chimneys stood, monuments of former days, Standing vigilant, witnesses to good old fashion ways. Pausing to reflect, there was wonderment on each face, Was it the climb up here or was it a questioning about this place? Then traversing again the overgrown terrain, They wished to see where their ancestors were lain. Coming now to the four square wall of stone only broken by the iron gate, They wasted not a minute they did not hesitate, They climbed into the sacred place to the graves of the Beahms, A moment beyond their wildest dreams. The day was drawing to a close as we left the old family plot, lot. We’d been scratched, pulled, bitten and stumbled a lot. Yet, within our hearts and minds and on film too, Was imprinted these scenes, this journey to be shared back home anew!
