biles are down so far this year as compared to other years in Rappahannock. There are just as many deer around, he said, in fact the deer population may have increased slightly, but this war was prime for acorns, the primary source of food for deer. As a result the deer are widely dispersed in the mountains and park areas but not roaming the fields and along the roadways in search of food.
Rappahannock does not have the problem with control of the deer population as counties that are more heavily populated do, he said. Here the deer population is stabilized by hunters.
