have elected to office. I have been asked since the meeting if a recall is an option available to us and if I intended to pursue that option.
Upon my inquiry the day after the council meeting, I was told by the State Board of Elections and Ethics that there is no provision in the Virginia Code affording the right of recall to voters, but that we would have that right if it were included in our Town Charter. The board representative with whom I spoke indicated that the charter for Portsmouth was the only one they- knew to include provisions for recall.
