one store. Life revolves around crabs and oysters. The men crab in the summer and dredge for oysters in the winter. The women pick the crabs their husbands catch at the Co-op. Most residents rise around 3 a.m., eat dinner around 4 p.m.and are asleep by 7 p.m. The older students (grades 812), meet the school boat at the town dock at 6:30 a.m. which takes them to Crisfield, Md. for school. Younger students go to school on Tangier Island. Our students seemed appreciative that they didn’t have to catch their bus at that hour!
