It seems safe to say from the turn out for (and the fall out from) last Wednesday’s council meeting, that we in Washington intend to keep our republic. To do that may require an amendment to our Town Charter to ensure that our votes determine who represents us by providing for a special election to fill council vacancies, or, at a minimum, the right to recall those elected who fail in their representation of the voters.
