Hunters and citizens should keep
safety for all foremost in mind
Yet another hunting season has come and with it
scores of hunters combing the woods and fields
of the county in search of that “30 Point Buck,” (if you haven’t heard the song be sure and request it from a local radio station).
But what should be paramount on the minds of hunters and residents alike is safety. Hunters know, or should know, what they are required to do — wear blaze orange, have their hunting license, hunt only where they have permission, do not hunt in the park (and be sure you know where the park boundaries are when you’re near it), hunt only from one half hour before sunrise to one half hour after sunset and never , on Sunday, and never transport loaded firearms in a vehicle either on public or private land.
Spotlighting is, of course, illegal. Anyone having any knowledge of spotlighting activities should call the sheriff’s office at 675-3331.
If hunters and residents show consideration for each other hunting season should be safe for all and enjoyable for hunters.
