Health/Screening programs planned
The Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Board invites persons 60 years of age and older to participate in the following Health Promotion/Screening Programs to be held at the Rappahannock Senior Nutrition Center:
June 7 at 12:45 p.m., program by Michael Soule, Scams against Seniors; June 12 at 1 p.m., program by Karen Gemdt of Culpeper Regional Hospital, Massage. June 14 and 18 at 1 p.m., program by Barbara Creasy, Stress and June 21 at 1 p.m., program on Medicare B by Bob Craig of United Health Care.

Raw Foods workshop planned
There will be a Raw Foods workshop at the Rappahannock Healing Arts Center on June 10-11. The workshop will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. “Come, enjoy a weekend of hands on preparation of raw organic foods. We will be having an incredible feast for the closing of the class. Leave with a new understanding of - we are what we eat,” said an organizer. The class will be limited to 12 people. Registration deadline is June 2. Career Resource Center now open
The Rappahannock Career Resource Center has just opened. It will provide assistance to citizens in searching for job opportunities and in preparing job applications.
The office is located in the basement level of the Rappahannock County Library. The current hours of operation are Monday 2:30 to 6:30 p.m., Wednesday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Thursday 1 to 5 p.m. The phone is 675-2631.
Scholarship applications accepted
The Wayland Blue Ridge Ministers and Deacons Union Scholarship Committee is now accepting applications from 2000 high school graduates who plan to further their education. Benefit concert scheduled
The Rappahannock Quintet’s sparkling folk chamber music will be the highlight of a Friends of the Culpeper County Library benefit concert on the evening of June 9 at 7:30 at the library community room. The evening performance is courtesy of Young, Nichols, Branner and Phillips, L.L.P. and Davies, Barred, Will, Lewellyn & Edwards, PC. Their contributions have made the appearance of the Rappahannock Quintet possible.
At intermission, desserts will be served. A $10 donation is requested. Tickets may be obtained at the library or reservations may be made by calling the library at 825-8691.
U-13 Comets seeking players
The U-13 Comets girls are seeking experienced players interested in developing their skills and having fun playing travel soccer for the 2000/01 seasons. Girls born before Aug. 1, 1987 are eligible.
