Carolina wrens are unusual in that they often gather their newly-fledged young back into the safety of the old nest for the first few nights. Did this occur in Bob Lyon’s bathroom?
As soon as the young wrens can fly and are adept at finding their own spiders, the wrens will construct a new nest and again make an effort to reproduce and pass their genes on to the future. And what genes they are!
Where will the second nest be located? Maybe on the vanity of Bob Lyon’s bathroom, if he has removed the first nest. Old nests are not used again, as they often contain minute parasites left over from the first nesting.
These can multiply and kill young wrens.
All agree that this is an unusual pair of Carolina wrens. I should say female wren, for she chooses the exact location for the nest. If not on the vanity in Bob Lyon’s bathroom, the second nest will undoubtedly be in an equally safe and imaginative site.
