Richmond, England and Francis May Farlane his wife, a native of Scotland.
Their first son, Hiram, married Mary Ann Curry Phillpotts, a native of Richmond, Va., daughter of Oakley Phillpotts, whose parents emigrated to Gloucester County from England.
The Haines family emigrated from Oxfordshire, England in 1682 and settled in New Jersey whence 58 years afterwards 1740, the first mentioned Ezekial removed to Culpeper County.
The Haines of England descended from the Hines family of Montgomershire Wales.
This account was sent Middleton Miller by his cousin Oakley P. Haines of Baltimore Sun. He has complete record of the Haines & Hopkins families on his father’s side, and the Phillpotts and Giffords on his mother’s.
I called the clerk’s office in Madison County, and they informed me that they did have the will of Henry Miller I. In which I requested them to mail me a copy. The copy dated 1796 was hand written, but legible in the old style of writing of that era. I believe that Henry Miller I died in 1801.
Although wills are open to the public,, I will not print the contents, which I consider private to the Miller family. However, I will leave a copy of the will and transcript with the Rappahannock News, not to be published, and the Historical Society, for anyone to view, or obtain a copy.
The children of Henry Miller I are copied from the Miller family tree as follows: Henry II, married a Miss Warner, (Ashsan or Ashsah); John I, married a Miss Nancy Hitt of Fauquier County; George, moved west, name of wife unknown; Adam, married Mary Withoite; Mary, married a W. Haines and Elizabeth, married a Mr. Lacompeaine.
Henry II; son of Henry I had eight children, one Samuel which is the where the DeBergh line comes in.
