Behavioral tools to manage stress may include learning effective timemanagement strategies, saying no if necessary, or taking time alone.
Eating balanced meals, exercise, relaxation, regular sleep and decreasing the use of chemical substances are all physical means by which to reduce your stress.
Finally, emotional strategies involve initiating activities you enjoy such as reading, listening to music, taking time to look for the beauty around you and to find pleasure in the simple activities of life. !
It is often helpful to look at which realm in which you spend the majority of your time and choose a strategy in a different category. It is also important to know yourself in order to choose an approach that you are likely to enjoy and, most importantly, follow,
Once you have performed a self evaluation, it is critical that you commit to a plan of action. It is helpful to start with a simple plan that you are likely to follow. Even one change can be helpful. Develop your plan over time. Keep what has been working for you and change or discontinue strategies which are not helpful. Avoid the realm df insanity.
In other words, do not expect to do the same thing over and over and to get different results. Making changes, even positive ones, can be difficult but if you want different results you have to take different actions. Sustain your focus of energy by giving yourself permission to make your plan a priority.
Finally, it is a good idea to monitor your plan for progress. Take the time to periodically perform a self evaluation. Depending on your current situation, your vulnerability as well as stressors may change requiring an adjustment to your plan. Keep in mind that you are the only one that can manage your stress and that you are important enough to do so.
