Learn to paint the figure and landscape using light and shadow contrast to make your paintings exciting! Whether focusing specifically on the figure with the landscape as a background or making the landscape the primary focal point, it’s important to know how to see and use these elements. Rick Weaver will conduct a four day, “plein air’’ workshop for oil or pastel on June 8-11.
Students will paint from a two model pose situated in a landscape setting in the morning and will paint a landscape subject in the afternoon. Emphasis on composition, integration of figure and landscape, value and color will be stressed. The workshop is for all painting levels and open to the public.
The workshop will be held at Shimmering Meadows Farm Studio located in Slate Mills between Culpeper and Sperryville. An indoor teaching studio is available in case of inclement weather.
