One of the few orchardist left in Rappahannock County is Roy Alther. When he and Janet grew extra produce and fruit, they would sell it to the local fruit stands. They both worked and had full time jobs. They would sell produce to their fellow employees.
As sales grew they decided to expand their business by building a fruit stand in the corner of their orchard at their home with the garden and berries nearby. This was a family operation until their children graduated and continued with their education.
When the local people learned about their business, it began to grow and has increased every year. This year he added new buildings to meet the public’s demand. He and Janet are prepared for the hectic pace until they close in November.
