The Virginia Angus Association has selected Woodville resident and farmer, Deirdre M. Payne, as the winner of the 2001 VAA handbook Cover Photo Contest. Her photo, titled “Green Grass, Black Cows and White Fence” has been placed on the cover of the Association’s 2001 Handbook. Payne’s photo was chosen out of several hundred entries from around the state. Dede, along with her husband Lee, raises Angus cattle on several properties in the county. The cover photo was taken on their farm Mont Elery in Laurel Mills.
