• Each year in Seventh Grade the students are asked to select one of their own to receive the Liz Tole Student Award. The students are asked to select a fellow student that embodies the same positive characteristics. This year’s award was presented to Emily Hilscher. Congratulations!
• Public service announcement: For those of you that are not yet aware, chicken pox is making the rounds in Rappahannock County. Recently four RCMS sixth grader contracted the virus. As you may know it can be much more serious for older children and is uncomfortable to say the least. In the initial stages the symptoms (lowgrade fever, headache and possible nausea) may be mistaken for flu. The itchy rash at firstsight may be confused with mosquito bites. You may wish to check with your doctor if you are unsure.
• Summers in the public . school system are as busy for many of us as the rest of the year. Class schedules must be made, Adult Ed classes scheduled, staff training planned, textbooks inventoried, schools thoroughly cleaned and so much more. Many teachers will be taking classes; many others tutoring. Schools will be open throughout the summer, though the schedule may fluctuate due to building maintenance and other factors.
