He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed football, softball, baseball, fishing, bowling and playing bingo.

His parents were the late Isiah Smoot and Mary Louise Kennedy Smoot.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Clatterbuck Smoot of Culpeper; four daughters, Karen Crowe and Jennifer Smoot, both of Culpeper, Pamela Jones of Barboursville and Sandrae Camper of Fredericksburg; one son, Mark McKim of Culpeper; three sisters, Mary Jasper of Jeffersonton, Mildred Cooper and Janet Smoot, both of Culpeper; two brothers, Isiah Smoot of Culpeper and Everett Smoot of Reva and four grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by two sisters.

Funeral services were conducted on Friday, June 15 at Clore-English Funeral Home with the Rev. Fincham of Bible Baptist Church officiating.

Interment was at Hillcrest Memory Gardens with military honors provided by VFW Post 2524 Honor Guard and American Legion Post 330, both of Culpeper.
