Sydney Hall draws inspiration for many of her paintings from her flower and vegetable gardens and paints the energy she sees in nature with brilliant colors and strong brush strokes. Ms. Hall explains, “I strive to create a communion with the natural world. The subjects I choose to paint become players in an orchestra of color and texture. They are loose and saucy and vibrant, sometimes stormy, sometimes serene.”
After studying art and graphic design at Virginia Commonwealth University, Hall and fellow artist David Williams were living in Richmond. When the Miller’s House behind the historic BurwellMorgan Mill in Millwood became available they jumped at the chance to leave their urban environment. Now she completely immerses herself in the scenic beauty of the mill and surrounding landscape to fuel her artistic inspiration.
