scored the goals with great defensive play by James White and Austin Burdick. Michael Caporuscio and Gary White played outstanding goalies this game.
The U-10 Rapp Dragons played a winning game against Culpeper 2-0. It was a scoreless first half and Zach Wayland came through with 2 goals in the second half! Patrick Lysaught played an incredible offense and will be a key player for the Dragons the rest of the season.
The U-12 girls, a.k.a. the “Purple People Eaters,” traveled to Emerald Hill to face Culpeper. The game began with Rapp having just 1 substitute available as four girls had an early morning band competition, which I heard went very well - great job girls. Emma Hathaway and Emma DoddHenze shared keeper duties the first half combining to stop five Culpeper shots, with Kara Corbin and Jordan Lysaght providing defensive support.
When the first half whistle blew, the Purple People Eaters found themselves in a defensive struggle against a tough Culpeper squad with the score even at nil-nil.
When the second half began, the Rapp girls were back to a full compliment of 16 girls giving Coaches Dodd and Rosenbaum more lineup flexibility.
Megan Wheatley handled goalie duties the second half with Lily Day and Emma Hathaway shoring up the defensive unit. Midfielders Jordan Lysaght and Tiana Lucking had several nice passes forward giving the Purple People Eaters some offensive punch. Late in the second half, Kara Corbin’s apparent goal was nullified by an offsides call against Rapp. Purple People Eater keeper (try to say that 10 times fast) Megan Wheatley was busy shutting out Culpeper with seven stops, but on a diving block with less than a minute to play a Culpeper forward picked up the deflected ball and netted the game winner.
