teachers.
Currently, there is a countrywide shortage of teachers for mathematics, sciences and foreign languages and there is an overall shortage of teachers in our region. Tb avoid entering a costly and time consuming competition for new teachers, it is important for Rappahannock County to keep the teachers we have.
The overall quality of education in our schools is enhanced by a stable work force. The continuity of existing programs and follow-through on new initiatives is much easier to manage with low turnover of teachers. Success in athletics and other extra-curricular activities is more likely when coaches, advisors, and leaders can build their programs from year to year. These successes, engendered by teachers and students working together for common goals, contribute to school spirit. Low turnover encourages the familiarity and working relationships that are vital for any successful organization.
It is becoming more difficult for Rappahannock County to keep our existing workforce. When teachers do leave, it is even more difficult to hire new teachers to replace them.
