Chairman Wesley Mills and the School Board responded to calls from County Administrator John McCarthy and the Board of Supervisors and cut school administrative costs by nearly $95,000 at its May 13 meeting.
The cuts were prompted by the Board of Supervisors adoption on May 5 of a Fiscal Year 2004 school budget that was $100,735 less than that requested.
At that adoption meeting, McCarthy said that according to reports of Virginia's Auditor of Public Accounts, Rappahannock County Public Schools had the second highest administrative cost in Virginia in 2002 and only two jurisdictions were higher the year
