A divisional honor was decidedr at Rappahannock: the prestigious Seven Corners owner-rider timber series. Neck and neck in points for the series championship — Kirlin on his New Zealand-bred Te Akau Five and Jim Whitner on his Patrician Power — they raced around the course with Patrician Power maintaining a slight advantage over Te Akau Five until a mistake cost Whitner the win and the series.
