Tb enhance and preserve its historic character, the Doneheys chose expensive building materials for beauty and durability—inside and out— including painted Tendura planks for the veranda and deck.
The restaurant takes its name from Griffins, a mythological character with the body of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle.
It offers casual dining in an upscale setting in a restored historic building.
“The idea is to make Griffin Tavern a place where folks can socialize, enjoy telling stories in a relaxed, casual atmosphere, get to know their neighbors and eat tasty foods without emptying their wallets,” said Debbie Donehey.
The British “tavern” atmosphere owes its origin to owner Jim Donehey who designed and built the elegant cherrypaneled bar in his own garage workshop.
