Bnttanv “Bnt Thornhill - Jr., P, OF. 2B. Brittany started playing softball when she was seven. She also played with Culpeper Little League before X-treme and will be playing this summer with the Fauquier Spitfire.
Rachel “Rach” Gall - Soph., OF, 2B. Rachel started playing as an eight year old with RAA. She played with Culpeper Little League for five years and later X-treme. She will be with the Fauquier Spitfire this summer.
Sarah “Sarah Paige” Mills - Soph., OF. Sarah has been playing with RAA since she was seven years old. She has also played much summer ball with RAA as well as X-treme.
Megan Payne - Soph., C, OF, IF. As a 10 year old Megan started with RAA and has been very devoted to softball since. She is currently affiliated with the Piedmont Softball League where she enjoys coaching T-ball. Megan was the JV Coaches Award recipient in 2001.
Virtually assured of the Bull Run District title, The Girls of Summer will begin their journey to the state tournament at the end of the month. They will be playing in the Bull Run District Tournament in Strasburg on May 22 and 23. The regional tournament will begin on Tuesday, May 27.
One loss and it’s over. It is very possible the road to state might once more pass through the door of Randolph-Henry.
But one thing everyone can rest assured on, the Lady Panthers, The Girls of Summer will represent Rappahannock County High School with the highest example of work ethic, sportsmanship, respect and Panther Pride.
Because The Girls of Summer do in fact intend to replace that old pennant on top of the backstop—only this one will read “STATE SOFTBALL CHAMPIONS 2003.”
