On a cold, blustery day this past February I found myself at the elementary school anticipating a meeting that had apparently been rescheduled without notice to me.
Having a passion for girls fastpitch softball I took advantage of the opportunity to walk up to the softball field. I figured it would be a good idea to check it out since it would be a matter of only a few weeks before it would be time to start getting it ready for the spring season.
Standing on home plate I closed my eyes as my mind replayed the only run scored in the last game our girls had played there last May. It was then that we lost the opportunity of a regional berth to Randolph-Henry, a team from Charlotte County that we had ironically beaten by the same margin, 1-0, the year before.
