Sufi dancing on Sept. 19

There will be Sufi Dancing once again at the Washington Town Hall on Friday. Sept. 19 and again on Friday, Oct. 24. This will be led by Mariah Dean from the Charlottesville Sufi community who has led dances in Washington for the past three years. The dance, which borrows from folk dance traditions from around the world, will be from 7-9 p.m. There is a suggested $5 donation. Everyone is welcome to attend this uplifting spiritual folk dancing. Old Hollow reunion

The annual Old Hollow Reunion will be held Sunday, Sept. 14 at Thorntons Gap Regular Baptist Church in Old Hollow. Lunch will be serve at 1 p.m. Bring a covered dish and join the group.

Wharton reunion

The family and friends of the late Oscar, Amon Walter, Robert, Sam, Howard, Ash and Helen Wharton will hold a reunion on Sept. 21 at 12 noon at the Castleton Fire Hall. Bring a covered dish and drink to share.

Girl Scouts to sign up

The Shepherds ’ Play

Auditions for “The Shepherds' Play," the annual December presentation by Ki Theatre, will be held Sundays, Sept. 14 and Sept. 21 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Ki Theatre in Washington.

Actors, singers and musicians of all ages are needed. No experience is necessary. Come by and join fellow community members in reading and talking about the play.

Field and flower classes

Learn how to grow and care for leafy greens on Saturday, Sept. 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Topics covered: propagation, timing, succession growing, seasonal variances, irrigation, shade nets, varietal information, wild greens and how to create a “wild salad”, patch. Fee: $25. In another class with Donna La Pre, horticulturist and year-round vegetable grower, learn how to use simple, unheated structures to produce salads in the snow. The Rappahannock Freek£linic, a local branch of the Fauquier Free Clinic operates on the first, third and fifth Wednesday evenings of each month in the Rappahannock County Health Department in Washington.
