Real Estate nevertheless is much more than “cash.” Indeed it is the antithesis of cash, which is not “real” property at all.
It is hard to determine what Ms. Horton’s letter is about, but I will try to craft this: The “real” in real estate, contrary to the quote from Stewart Brand, denotes the value of the land and buildings that occupy it.
That value, unlike his suggestion, is responsive to the marketplace, which thanks to our modern government, is set by market forces, rather than the dictates of feudalism, mercantilism or other “ism’s” of ideology that could distort the true value.
Whatever the case, we are not to be muddled by the obfuscation of the term “monetization.”
