Also discussed was the creation of a committee to investigate the possibility of easements being purchased by the county. This board includes, the county administrator, representation from the Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection and Rappahannock County Conservation Association, the Commissioner of the Revenue, members of the Board of Supervisors, local real estate representation, a member of the banking community and an accounting professional. Individuals representing some of these groups have not been chosen yet and will be named next month.
Meanwhile, County Administrator John McCarthy said that while he had not received an official acceptance of Rappahannock’s offer of $71,125 to Culpeper County for purchase of the CarverPiedmont Center it had appeared in a recent addition of the Culpeper Star:Exponent that the county would be accepting it. He hoped to receive official word in the near future.
