According to Settle, Trooper Jonathan Kelly was familiar with state police operations before coming here. Kelly’s father, who works in another division, is a senior trooper who has been with the agency for 19 years, Settle explained.
Kelly, 27, attended Dabney S. Lancaster Community College and is pursuing a degree in criminal justice.
“This is a great profession to get into and it was always a dream of mine to become a trooper,” Kelly said.
When he’s off. duty, Kelly said he likes to play softball and golf, and he also enjoys fishing. Although he hasn’t been here long, Kelly, who was appointed from Rockbridge County, said he likes his new surroundings.
