“Fauquier County is really nice,” he said. “It kind of reminds me of home.”
Like Kelly, Trooper Scott Archer Jackson had some idea what the job would entail before he joined the state police. Jackson’s brother has been a trooper for three years, Settle explained.
“I wanted to become a trooper to make Virginia a safer place to live, and to enjoy the challenges this job brings,” said Jackson, who was appointed to his current post from Mecklenburg County. “Every day is something different.”
Jackson, 24, attended Southside Virginia College. He enjoys hunting, fishing and “just being outdoors.” He also said that he’s readily adapting to life in this area.
“The community is nice and I look forward to meeting new people,” Jackson said.
