The State Ruritan Convention was held last Friday night in Winchester. Attending from the Amissville Club were L. J. Davis, T.C. Barron, Charlie R. Priest, Gilbert Lawrence, Edward Lawrence, Stanley Settle and Aubrey Curtis.
C. M. Ramey of Slate Mills has been named the outstanding conservationist in Rappahannock County by the Culpeper Soil and Water Conservation District. Mr Ramey was presented a certificate at a dinner meeting held in Madison Thursday night.
First hunstman to appear at the newspaper office with his kill on the opening day of the hunting season was Pete Jenkins of Washington. The 184-pound 13-point buck was killed near Sperryville.
