‘Slick’ caller

claims to help

Flint Hill fire

department

By Ellen Piazza

Special to the Rappahannock News

A Flint Hill resident received a phone call earlier this month from a man claiming to represent the Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department.

The caller asked for a donation and offered to send a decal in return. The alert recipient declined the request and called the fire department to ask about the solicitation. She later described the caller as “slick” and not unlike the familiar but deceptive fund-raising operatives that claim to help law enforcement.

The Flint Hill Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company reports that it is not soliciting anyone for donations by telephone.

The company mailed its annual appeal letter several weeks ago and it is not to be confused with the fraudulent phone request.
