The Inn at Little Washington is a dream come true for two longtime partners Patrick O’Connell and Reinhardt Lynch.
Crafted with imagination and heart honed from years of personal and practical experience, O’Connell and Lynch have created a dining dynasty like no other in the country.
With O’Connell as master orchestrator of the kitchen and culinary creations, Lynch has served as the manager and front man graciously greeting not only local residents but as the restaurant’s notoriety grew politicians and celebrities as well.
While news of their personal falling out several years ago is not new news for many who know them well, the falling out of their business partnership breakup is.
Since the opening of the Inn in February of 1978, the .two partners have purchased several other properties in the Town of Washington and it is the division of those properties that is now at odds.
O’Connell filed papers on May 22 in the Rappahannock County Circuit Court asking that the O’ConnellLynch partnership (which was formed in 1977 with each as 50 percent general partners) be dissolved. According to court documents, O’Connell is asking that he be “appointed custodian to operate the business of the partnership in the ordinary course until a full hearing on dissolution can be held, that he be appointed receiver at such hearing, and that the Court set a date for a bulk sale by the receiver of the assets of the partnership (as a going concern) at public auction.”
