Amid the dusty, vintage finds at auctions, yard sales, shops, and bams - both local and far flung - a diligent and enthusiastic group of volunteers is busy rounding out and sprucing up the treasures that will be up for bid at the Child Care and Learning Center’s (CCLC’s) Eleventh Annual Fall Auction and Party, set for Saturday, November 11 at 5:30 p.m. at the Washington School on Mt. Salem Avenue.
CCLC’s only fund raising event of the year, the auction takes a full year to plan, coordinate, and execute. This huge undertaking is spearheaded by the Friends of CCLC, a volunteer committee chaired by Debbie Donehey.
The $25 entrance fee helps to cover the cost of the lavish spread of food and drink that is part of the evening’s festivities. Mary Arthur’s RCHS Culinary Arts Program is responsible for the food preparation, giving her students a real-life experience in catering a large event.
Guests will be invited to browse through the Sursum Corda Shoppe for priced antiques and collectibles; sign up for any of the 50+ items and services for bid at the silent auction tables in the Boardroom; and get a close look at the impressing array of furniture, local art, and quality items that will be auctioned off beginning at 7 p.m.
Doc Mitchell, auctioneer and part-time stand up comedian, is sure to put his own spin on the evening’s fun! CCLC will accept cash, checks, and credit cards.
