Cloniger pleaded not

guilty in Culpeper

Ira Wayne Cloniger, charged with first degree murder in Rappahannock County and the subject of a week long man hunt earlier this summer, pleaded not guilty to a charge of malicious wounding in Culpeper Circuit Court on Tuesday, September 19. The charge relates to Cloniger’s alleged stabbing of a 60 year old Culpeper man. Cloniger was out on bond for this charge when he allegedly murdered Edward Fletcher Jr. in Rappahannock county on July 2. Cloniger will go before the Culpeper Circuit Court for trial on Oct. 31. His trial in Rappahannock County will begin on January 22.

Massies Comer

James L. Fletcher, 30, of Washington, VA was arrested by Deputy Angela Deavers and Sgt. Mark Kearns of the Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office on September 17 for Assault and Battery and Brandishing a firearm. According to the RCSO, Fletcher became upset when his Lincoln Navigator was repossessed earlier that week. On September 13, Fletcher allegedly beat his wife multiple times, chased her with a hammer, and threatened to kill her with a loaded rifle. According to the RCSO, witnesses saw Fletcher hitting his wife by the side of the road at Massies Comer, came to her aid, and called police. This incident is still under investigation.

Blue Rock Inn

Timothy Treantafellow is currently wanted by the RCSO for peijury and DUI. The charges relate to a a traffic accident that occurred on US 211 outside the Blue Rock Inn on September 9. This incident is still under investigation.
