Position available with Parks, Recreation and Community Services at the Claude Moore Recreation Center scheduled to open in December 2006. Duties include planning and coordinating center maintenance on all building and ancillary systems. Ensure safe environment for all users. Perform all routine corrective maintenance, both indoors and outdoors, for the center within technical capabilities and coordinate contractual work with managers. Perform or supervise all preventative maintenance. Provide facilities expertise during the development, design and execution of major projecis/modihcalions to the center. Provide training for all staff, designed to enable them to lake proper corrective action during emergencies that occur after normal duty hours and on the weekend. Help develop first-response, reference materials for staff. Develop,, execute and document an aggressive preventive maintenance schedule for the fitness areas and equipment, gymnasium, running track, swimming pool ancillary systems, day care drop-off area, offices, classrooms, scullery, locker rooms, building systems, intercom/public address systems and all other related equipment. Collaborate with the aquatics coordinator to ensure that the pool meets health and safety standards and that compliance is achieved. Assist in monitoring pool operation and maintenance. Establish and conduct a training program for aquatics personnel tasked with basic pool maintenance. Assist center manager with the development and implementation of a facility program management plan. Provide work supervision for all maintenance staff at the center. Assist with recruiting, hiring and training, and evaluating staff performance in accordance with Human Resources policies. Develop and maintain sufficient parts and supply inventories for cleaning and preventative maintenance program for pool and general maintenance. Assist manager in development of and tracking of annual operating budget for supplies and repair parts. Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to HS and 6 years of experience in building maintenance and repair which must include a minimum of 1 year supervisory experience. Experience must include extensive experience in building trades including HVAC. electrical and preventative maintenance. Experience is preferred in pool operating systems, plumbing and security systems. Journeyman licensure in HVAC or electrical systems preferred. Pool Operators license and training on facility specific building and pool systems within VO days of hire. CPR. First Aid required. Valid drivers license, DMV Check. Must be willing to work a very flexible work schedule; early mornings, nights, days and weekends to meet center needs.
