Valentine to convert to hurdles.

After three uninspiring starts over hurdles last summer, Valentine spent the winter and spring schooling Straight Gin over timber. In his debut Saturday, jockey Chip Miller settled off a steady lead set by veteran Reverse Acquittal, taking command coming off the mountain last time around. Miller asked for a big effort at the last to withstand a late return by Reverse Acquittal’s and Floor Play to win by two.
