Who are we in Sperryville? The dictionary says that a village is a small Community or group of houses in a rural area, larger than a hamlet and usually smaller than a town, and that a community is a social group of any size whose members reside in a specific locality, share government, and often have a common cultural and historical heritage. —The February 2008 issue of the Washingtonian magazine featured Sperryville as “Great Small Town" and it is all of you who make it so.
We began January 2008 with a call for volunteers to rebuild the rescue squad and you have made that happen. Wellness and personal care services have continued to expand in Sperryville and we now have all the classes at the LINK community center l NLA, yoga. Synergy Dance, Drumming); the American Image Salon run by Sherri Woodward; massage and energy work by Christina Culley; the Hearthstone building’s Rainbow Market health food store; Nature’s Way Day Spa and Kathy Edwards's Reiki and nutritional healing services and the gluten free products from the Triple Oaks Bakery.
For a small, rural community that is a great deal. Our businesses are having the same ups and downs that we read about nationally. We are delighted to have added Stonewall Abbey and the three season rooftop service from Thornton River Grille to Main Street.
We miss Pellegatta's, but are happy to get cappuccino and solve the problems of the world at the 9 a m. coffee hour at the Abbey.
