We’re the greatest of
friends, Lizzie and I. We ve taken long autumn walks through the wideopen hayfields and the golden woods of Rappahannock County communicating in our own special way.

Lizzie is a foxhound, well mostly, and about 10 years old. She has been living at the Rappahannock County animal shelter since mid-2007. I am a volunteer there for the Rappahannock Animal Welfare League and help walk the dogs, Lizzie being one of my favorites.
Lizzie is as sweet and good-natured as the day is long. She loves adventure, sometimes taking off on unscheduled jaunts. The good news is that she usually turns up after one or two days.
In fact Lizzie first came to the shelter after a Good Samaritan from Rappahannock found her jogging down the middle of Interstate 95 in North Carolina.
Well, Monday, the 21st of December, Lizzie skedaddled once again. She saw an opportunity for freedom after a back kennel fence had been taken down at the shelter as part of the construction of an addition. There was a communication mix-up
