It’s the beginning of a new year and for Caren Wilson, a licensed master esthetician, it’s the start of her own business.
Welcome to the office of change,” laughs an energetic, vibrant lady who deals in healing and transforming lives that have been emotionally and physically scarred by severe acne, skin cancer, a chemical peel gone wrong or years of neglect.
“These were the offices of Barack Obama when he was campaigning,” said Wilson who also has a mantra of change and sees her new path as the culmination of a quest that she undertook herself years ago.
A victim of severe mercury poisoning which led to the loss of all of her bodily hair, Wilson went through her own painful and challenging recovery. But, the process prompted her to learn as much as she could about new products and resources and embark on a new career.
“I walked the path, I went through my own transformation and I want to help others do the same...to help bring them back to the world.”
Wilson, a member of the National Coalition of Estheticians, Manufacturer/ Distributor Associations, graduated from Westmore Academy of Cosmetic Arts in Los Angeles as well as NYU-FIT.
With over 20 years of experience, Wilson specializes in corrective skin therapies and focuses on real solutions for appearance enhancement.
Her office is warm and inviting with comfortable chairs in the waiting area where she wants her clients to feel safe.
“Usually they are going through a lot of emotional upheaval,” said Wilson. “I want this space to be meditative and unhurried.”
“Most of us are catapulted to change by experiencing what I call one of the Big Ten,” said Wilson. “There’s a death, a divorce, cancer strikes, lyme disease or perhaps there is a wedding or the birth of a child..we each could define our own big ten.”
Wilson is a witness to her own ability to initiate a change in her appearance and to move forward with her life. She would like to be a catalyst for change in others, to help them find what she has found herself.
