After 20 years of meetings and discussions, pipe is finally being laid for the sewer collection system on Town of Washington streets. The contractor. Franklin Mechanical, began digging a trench and laying the sewer main along Mount Salem Avenue in front of Washington Baptist Church this past week.
The crews will he working Mount Salem for the next three weeks. There will be a construction meeting on Feb, 26 at which the next phases of construction will be presented.
Passersby marveled only at the size of the pipe, some remarking. “That’s it?” referring to the three - inch diameter pipe.
