Lee and Connie Keyser of Washington woke to find their back basement wall caved in. They and their neighbors spent the morning standing under torrents of rain and shoveling the mud out of the way to assess the extent of the damage.

February 17, 1999 Last Wednesday night was DARE night at Rappahannock County Elementary School. Caroline Levans, 6th grade, read her winning essay on “What DARE means to me?” Three other sixth grade essay contest winners, Sarah Mills, Danielle North and David Miller, also read their essays.
The new county animal control officer will be Sheriffs Deputy James Leake. The announcement was made by County Administrator John McCarthy.
