Hospice training

Hospice of the Rapidan has scheduled its next training program for volunteers on Feb. 28. This comprehensive program for people interested in volunteering with patients and their caregivers consists of 21 hours in four Saturday sessions. Training will take place at Hospice's offices, 1200 Sunset Lane. Culpeper beginning Feb. 28 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. No prior experience is required and the program is free. Patient families live in Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock counties. Soap Box Derby

The Piedmont Area Soap Box Derby will host Rappahannock County drivers and families Sunday. March 1 from 1 to 3 p.m., at the Sperryville Fire Hall. Information will be provided on how to get involved, sponsor a car/driver, or just witness the excitement of the youth already involved. There will be a special presentation of a new soap box derby car to the Rappahannock County Sheriff's Department for its participation in the 2009 derby in Culpeper on June 20.
