Survey Trappers
The VA Dept, of Agriculture & Consumer Services has a seasonal employment opportunity for Emerald Ash Borer Survey Trappers to conduct emerald ash borer trap placement & monitoring in northern VA localities. Survey activities require initial trap placement, monthly inspections, & trap removal. Trap placement, trap construction, & data recorded on the trap will be subject to Quality Control inspections. Trappers must reside in close proximity to their work area. Knowledge of tree identification & insect biology, particularly ash species & emerald ash borer, is required. Position is physically demanding & involves considerable walking, standing, kneeling, reaching, driving for long periods, & exposure to outside weather conditions, & natural elements. Use of personal vehicle is required with established mileage reimbursement. The seasonal employment period is April through September & regular work hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday-Friday.
