A Sperryville woman wants all women to know about this new service that can provide even better breast cancer detection. The Fauquier Hospital Mammography Department now offers state of the art breast cancer detection - hologic selenia unit, digital mammography. This is like the difference' between film and digital photography.
The digital equipment can see the dense tissue better than film screen equipment, leading to earlier detection, particularly in the younger, more dense breasted patient. Since the digital images are computerized they present a clearer, finer image, can be manipulated to detect very small growth, transported on CD or electronically transferred.
