I certainly have no problems with Mr. Eborn’s religious beliefs, nor anyone else’s. It is his political and philosophical comminglings with which I differ. My own Christian path teaches me the value of humility and service, and to the extent to which I practice those tenets, my faith is strengthened and my joy is increased.
Mr. Eborn, in an odd and illogical interjection, asked me, “Therefore, Mr. Jones, I would ask you Sir: what is it that makes you think you have the moral superiority to question what I believe?”
Well sir, I do not claim nor do I wish to claim any moral superiority to anyone. In fact, I am certain that my border collie, Jack, is morally superior to me. All I am doing is questioning opinions and disagreeing with conclusions. This is the normal business of thinking people. It is called freedom of speech.
But there is, I believe, some moral condescension here on Mr. Eborn’s part. Where else could this have come from, totally out of relation with anything I had said?
