Not open for the tour, but interesting in its own right, are the remains of the slave quarters in the cellar, which had its own entrance, windows and two fireplaces. In the expanded cellar %now is the original hand dug‘well, 17 feet deep, and four feet in diameter. It was originally an outside well but enclosed when the back extension was built. (Yes, it has water in it still, and no, the Schwartzs and ■their guests don’t drink from it!) »
