Getting involved

Newspapers exist because, after all these years, there are still just 24 hours in a day. If there were more, maybe we could make it to every • f i t or meeting that interested us, or might affect our • ••' '.r livelihood Maybe we could get out and persons!!v talk with even- person we thought might improve oi worsen - our quality of life. Of course we can’t - 1 neither can newspapers, w'hen it comes down to it, ubstitute with their reports of events and approximaitis of meetings what each of us would experience, •ers< molly, if we were there. This newspaper will continue to keep its readers v. ;r e of whom they’re being asked to vote for, and why. fv'ith this issue, we complete a series of profiles of the 'our candidates running for the two open seats on the Board of Supervisors. They seem to be a sincere and committed group and each will bnng different experi: c> and interests to the table. But the next step - the second most important step is the community's. The Rappahcinnwk News is sponsoring a candidates’ brum iater this month, to which all four candidates have been invited, including Tom Junk and Mike Biniek in the Piedmont District, and Chris Parrish and T-rry Dixon in the Stonewall-Hawthome District. The remaining invitation.now goes out — to the res. dents and voters of the county - not just to attend the vent, but to submit questions beforehand that they old like the candidates to answrer. We will compile questions and ask them at the forum. The forum takes place at 7:30 p.m. Monday. Oct. 26. * ’he Theatre at Washington, 291 Gay Street.
