A piano recital by Audrey Andnst on Sunday, Nov. 22 at 3 p m , at the Theatre at Washington, Virginia includes music of Chopin, Beethoven and Schumann.
Most of the second half of the program is devoted to Schumann’s “Carnaval." which Andrist describes as "a collection of 21 short pieces that comprise one of Schumann’s greatest masterpieces." She explains that it is “a lavish musical depiction of a fantastical masquerade ball. The Preambule, a jubilant procession into the ballroom, is followed by a series of miniature scenes, each depicting a character at the party."
Andrist studied at the Juilliard School where she completed her doctoral degree She has received first place honors in major piano competitions and has toured throughout North America, China and Japan
